Matt Paxton - Psychodynamic Counsellor
Counselling
Often underlying issues can be at the heart of why certain people react in certain ways to events, while others seem unaffected.
Counselling can offer a person the opportunity to look at themselves in a way they possibly never have before, and with the help of the counsellor, discover ways that they can think and behave differently in situations, whilst perhaps most importantly, realising why sensitivity in certain areas may have caused them to behave differently in the past.
Below is a list of causes of why people may choose to enter into counselling:
- Bereavement
- Relationship Issues
- Low Self-Esteem
- Childhood Issues
- Self-Awareness
- Addictions
- Phobias
- Anger Management
- Difficulties In The Workplace
I am a fully qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor, a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) as well as a Member of the Association for Independent Practitioners.
FIRST SESSION OFFER
To enable the counsellor to ascertain if their approach to therapy would be best suited to the client, and for the client to see if they would feel comfortable to work with the counsellor, an introductory session is usually advised; this is known as an assessment.
It is I feel, unfair that a client pays for an assessment when they are unsure if they will continue with the counsellor. In view of this, I offer a free assessment session, regardless of whether the client continues counselling with me or not.
