C-Section Scar Treatment
Gentle, specialist scar therapy to reduce tightness, improve comfort and restore natural movement following a Caesarean birth.
At The Living Centre Clinic, Magda Cotter (née Oliveira) provides specialist C-section scar therapy, using safe, gentle and comfortable techniques to support recovery, improve tissue mobility and help women regain confidence in their movement following a Caesarean birth.
Magda trained with Hannah Poulton, one of the UK's leading physiotherapists and scar experts, gaining specialist knowledge and advanced techniques for safely treating C-section scars and the surrounding tissues.
Every treatment is individually tailored, providing a reassuring and comfortable approach to caring for your C-section scar.
How Can C-Section Scar Treatment Help?
A C-section scar may feel tight, firm, sensitive, numb or attached to deeper tissues. Some women experience pulling or discomfort across the lower abdomen, particularly when stretching, exercising or carrying out everyday activities.
Specialist scar therapy may help to:
-
Soften and mobilise restricted scar tissue
-
Reduce tightness, pulling and sensitivity
-
Improve flexibility and tissue mobility
-
Support local circulation and lymphatic drainage
-
Reduce puffiness and tissue congestion
-
Encourage more comfortable movement
How Does C-Section Scar Therapy Work?
Magda combines specialist hands-on manual scar techniques with LymphaTouch therapy, an advanced medical device used to support scar and soft-tissue rehabilitation.
LymphaTouch uses carefully controlled negative pressure and mechanical vibration to gently lift and mobilise the skin and underlying soft tissues.
This gentle approach aims to improve the mobility of restricted scar tissue without the need for uncomfortable or forceful pressure.
What Does LymphaTouch Treatment Feel Like?
Most people describe treatment as a gentle lifting, pulsing or massage sensation as the treatment cup moves across the skin.
Suction and vibration levels are carefully adjusted to suit your comfort, sensitivity and the area being treated. Treatment should not be painful.
Before treatment, Magda will discuss your symptoms, medical history and what you would like to achieve.
When Can C-Section Scar Treatment Begin?
Scar treatment begins only once the incision is completely closed and healed, with no scabs, discharge or signs of infection.
The timing and suitability of treatment depend on your recovery, the condition of the scar and any medical considerations. Medical clearance may occasionally be recommended.
Scar Therapy for Other Surgical Scars
In addition to C-section scar care, Magda offers specialist scar therapy for other fully healed scars following surgery or injury.
These techniques may help improve tissue mobility, reduce tightness and sensitivity, and support more comfortable movement around the affected area.
Scar therapy and LymphaTouch may form part of a wider approach to rehabilitation and recovery. They do not replace appropriate medical diagnosis or treatment.
